I'm 21, doing a photography degree with Staffordshire University. Still learning the ropes but getting there slowly. My main interest is landscape and nature photography. I would much rather be at the top of a Scottish mountain for 9 hours waiting for the right light than be in an office all day!

I went to the Format Festival 09 in Derby to see Mel Blas and Steve Harris who are two professional photographers based in London. They were doing a talk about a trip they took together in 2001 where they travelled from Massachussets to California photographing the locations of there favorite 70's movie sets. It was really interesting seeing there images as well as the actual map they used to plan the trip. They were really enthusiastic about the trip which came through in their talk. I did a similar trip back in 2005 when I travelled from L.A to New York so I could relate to their experience.

Focus On Image

Today i went to the focus on image exhibition in the NEC in Birmingham. It was a good experience seeing all the new equipment and methods of printing. There were live shoots which were a big help to get a small insight into studio work. I managed to pick up the travel photographer of the year journeys one and two which im planning on entering in the next few months. I just wish i had more time to stay at the show, there was just too much to see!
